How to use

  1. Drop the PDF you want to complete.
  2. Use Add text, Add image or Add signature, then drag each item to its place on the page.
  3. Select an item to change its text, size, font, colour or width. Use the page buttons to work on other pages.
  4. Click Save PDF and download the edited copy.

How it works

The page you see is drawn with the open-source pdf.js engine. Each item you add is written onto the page at the position you chose with the open-source pdf-lib library, using the built-in Helvetica, Times and Courier fonts for text and the original picture for images. The rest of the document is copied as it was, so the existing text stays selectable.

This tool adds new content on top of the pages. It does not rewrite the text that is already part of the PDF: for that, you need the file the PDF was made from. To hide something for good, use Redact PDF instead, because a white box placed over text leaves the text underneath.

The built-in fonts cover Latin letters with accents. Text in other alphabets, such as Arabic, Chinese or Cyrillic, can't be added, and the tool tells you which characters are the problem. A signature is added as an image, like signing a printout; it is not a certificate-based digital signature.

Everything happens in your browser. The PDF and the pictures you add are not uploaded.

Examples

Flat form
A form was sent as a scan with no fields: add your name, address and the date in the right places, then save.
Logo and signature
Place your logo at the top of a quote and your signature at the bottom, on the same file, in one go.

Common uses

  • Fill in forms that have no fields

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the text that is already in the PDF?

No. The tool adds new text and images on top of the page. Changing the original wording needs the source file the PDF was exported from.

Is a signature added this way legally valid?

It is a visual signature, like signing a printout, which most everyday documents accept. A procedure that requires a certificate-based electronic signature needs the service it names.

Why does it refuse some characters?

The text uses the standard PDF fonts, which cover Latin letters and accents but not other alphabets. The message lists the characters to remove or replace.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The PDF and your pictures are processed in your browser and never sent to a server.
