How it works
Interactive PDF forms (AcroForm, the standard kind) contain named fields: text boxes, checkboxes, drop-down lists and radio buttons. The tool reads them with the open-source pdf-lib library, shows one input per field, writes your answers back into the same fields and redraws their appearance.
Text is drawn with the standard Helvetica font, which covers Latin alphabets including accents (é, ç, ß, ø…). Other scripts such as Arabic or Chinese can't be drawn with it; the tool tells you which field is affected.
Some forms made with Adobe LiveCycle use XFA, a format only Adobe Reader can fill; those are detected and explained. A PDF without fields (a scan, or a flat document) can't be typed into — use Sign PDF to add a signature.

Frequently asked questions
Are my answers sent anywhere?
No. Reading and filling the form happen in your browser; nothing is uploaded or stored.
Why can't I type Arabic or Chinese text?
PDF forms draw text with a font embedded for the purpose; the standard one covers Latin alphabets only. Support for other scripts needs an embedded font, which we haven't added yet.
The tool says my PDF has no fields.
It is a flat document or a scan. You can add a signature with Sign PDF, or print, fill by hand and scan it.
