How it works
All units are converted through the kilogram. Since 1959 the international avoirdupois pound is defined as exactly 0.45359237 kg; an ounce is 1/16 of a pound (28.349523125 g) and a stone is 14 pounds (6.35029318 kg).
A US “short” ton is 2,000 lb and a UK “long” ton 2,240 lb, while a metric tonne is 1,000 kg.
