How it works
Exact formula: °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9. Quick estimate: subtract 30 and halve (80 °F → 25 °C, exact 26.7 °C). It is accurate to within about 3 °C between 0 °F and 100 °F, which is enough for weather but not for baking or lab work.
Useful anchors: 32 °F is freezing (0 °C), 212 °F is boiling water at sea level (100 °C), and −40 is the one temperature that is the same in both scales.
