PDF to Word
Drop a PDF and get a .docx you can edit in Word, Google Docs, Pages or LibreOffice. The text, its reading order and the headings are rebuilt into real paragraphs. The file stays on your device.

How to use
- Drop your PDF, or pick it from your files.
- Click Convert to Word.
- Download the .docx and open it in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice.
How it works
A PDF does not store paragraphs. It stores glyphs with coordinates, which is why text copied out of one often arrives as a jumble. This tool rebuilds the structure instead: glyphs are grouped into lines by their baseline, lines are joined into paragraphs until a wide vertical gap ends one, words broken by a hyphen at the end of a line are put back together, and a short line set noticeably larger than the body text becomes a heading.
The body size is worked out from the document itself — the size most of the characters are set in — so a document typeset at 10 pt and one at 13 pt both get sensible headings. Everything runs in your browser through Mozilla's pdf.js; the PDF is never sent anywhere.
Examples
- A report you need to quote from
- Convert it, then edit and requote in Word without retyping whole paragraphs.
- A form or contract draft
- Get the wording into a document you can redline and comment on.
- A thesis chapter sent as a PDF
- Headings come back as Word headings, so the navigation pane and a table of contents work.
Common uses
- Editing text that only exists as a PDF
- Reusing wording from a report, contract or brief
- Getting a document into Google Docs for comments
- Translating a document in a word processor

Frequently asked questions
Will the Word file look exactly like the PDF?
No, and no converter can promise that honestly. The text, its order and the headings carry over. Columns, tables, images, headers and footers and the exact page layout do not: you get a clean, editable document rather than a copy of the page design. If the layout matters more than the text, keep the PDF and edit it directly.
It produced an empty document. Why?
Your PDF is a scan — pages that are images of text, with no text layer. Nothing can be extracted without character recognition (OCR), which this tool does not do. You can check by trying to select text in the PDF: if nothing highlights, there is no text to convert.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, so the PDF never leaves your device and nothing is stored on a server.
Does it work with .doc as well as .docx?
The output is .docx, the format Word has used since 2007. Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice, Pages and WPS all open it. The old .doc format is not produced.
Is there a page limit?
No fixed limit. Files up to 200 MB are accepted, and a long document simply takes longer because every page is read in your browser. Very long PDFs on an older phone can run out of memory.
Can I convert a password-protected PDF?
Remove the password first with Unlock PDF, then convert the result. A PDF you cannot open cannot be read.
