How it works
WebP uses more advanced prediction and entropy coding than JPEG, so it reaches the same visual quality with fewer bytes. Quality 75–85 is a good default for web photos.
WebP encoding depends on your browser: Chrome, Edge, Firefox and recent Safari versions support it. If your browser can't encode WebP, the tool tells you instead of silently producing another format.
