How to make a Wi-Fi QR code guests can scan to connect
Create a QR code that joins your Wi-Fi network in one tap on iPhone and Android, print it well, and keep your network secure.

Spelling out a long Wi-Fi password to every visitor gets old fast. A Wi-Fi QR code lets guests point their camera and join in one tap — at home, in a café, a rental apartment or an office meeting room.
Create the code
- Open the QR code generator and choose Wi-Fi.
- Enter the network name (SSID) exactly as it appears — it's case-sensitive.
- Enter the password and choose the security type: WPA/WPA2/WPA3 for almost all modern routers, None for open networks.
- Download the PNG to print or the SVG for sharp printing at any size.
The code contains a standard text like WIFI:T:WPA;S:MyNetwork;P:secret;; that the built-in camera apps on iOS (11 and later) and Android (10 and later) understand.
Print it so it scans reliably
- Print at least 3 × 3 cm for scanning from arm's length.
- Keep dark on light: black on white scans best. Avoid low-contrast colour combinations.
- Choose High error correction if the code might get scratched, folded or partly covered.
- Add a line of text such as “Scan to join Wi-Fi — network: MyNetwork” for people whose camera doesn't read QR codes.
Security tips
- Use a guest network. Most routers can create a separate guest network isolated from your computers and smart devices. Put the QR code on that one.
- Anyone with the code has the password. Don't post it where strangers can photograph it unless the network is meant to be public.
- Change the password periodically — generate a new one with the Password generator, update the router and print a new code.
Is my password sent anywhere?
No. The QR code is generated in your browser, and the resulting code is static: it doesn't pass through any server or expire.
